Air Force Station Udhampur celebratesVan Mahotsav | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT UDHAMPUR, July 9:Air Force Station Udhampur celebrated Van Mahotsav by initiating a tree plantation drive inside the camp area here today. The event was kicked off by Air Vice Marshal J Chauhan, Air Officer Commanding J and K by planting a sapling. Addressing the gathering, Air Vice Marshal Chauhan said that Armed Forces have a social responsibility towards fostering a clean and green environment. He said that, Global Warming has come up as a biggest challenge in today's world. One of the major causes of global warming has been deforestation. To reverse the process of global warming, a step needs to be taken. Chauhan emphasized upon plantation of more and more trees which have been inadvertently lost by us in the past. This would also go a long way in camouflaging the assets in the station during hostilities. The campaign for planting trees would only be successful if all personnel and their family members participate wholeheartedly in the drive. This is because, the trees that are planted need to be cared for till they grow to be self sufficient for which the time period estimated would be approximately two years. Air Force Station Udhampur has taken a leap ahead in this direction by planting 5000 saplings by all personnel and families of the station. The slogan for the drive would be Each One Plant One. The event was witnessed by other senior officers and families of Air Force Station Udhampur.
