7/9/2010 11:22:28 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
NEW DELHI, July 9: The Delhi Union of Journalists (DUJ) has condemned the restrictions imposed on media persons by Jammu and Kashmir Government vis-à-vis coverage of` disturbances in the Kashmir Valley. DUJ president SK Pandey issued a statement here saying, "The ominous decision not only reminds of emergency but also portends ill for the future."
He said DUJ held an emergency meeting and demanded the immediate withdrawal of the order while noting that the local Press in Kashmir is being subjected to great harassment.
The DUJ has also warned the J&K Government that such actions prove counterproductive and may worsen the situation instead of normalising it.
