| HC comes to rescue of Kishtwar couple | | | early times report
Jammu, July 10: The high court today restrained police to investigate a case of kidnapping after taking cognizance of a petition filed by one Abdul Hamid Mir and his wife Fehmeeda Bano seeking quashment of FIR registered at P/S Chatroo u/s 363/381/109/147/ 341 RPC against petitioner Adbul Hamid Mir.
Justice Virender Singh of Jammu & Kashmir High Court Jammu Wing after hearing Advocate after hearing the parties issued notice to the father of the Fahmeeda Bano. The court also directed the investigating agency to refrain from holding further investigation in FIR No 16/2010.The court also directed the Additional SP Kishtwar to ensure all protection to both the petitioners so as to avoid any untoward incident at the hands of father of the girl or any other person from his family. Any laxity shown by the police shall be taken seriously, the court made clear.
The petitioners stated that after falling in love, they got married on June 23, 2010. This marriage being to the disliking of the parents of the girl, the father of the girl lodged complaint accusing the petitioner of kidnapping his daughter. --JNF |
