BBIMCJ conducts assessment test of new entrants | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 10: B B Institute of Mass Communication and Journalism (BBIMCJ), Shastri Nagar here conducted the Assessment Test of the new entrants for one-year diploma course in Journalism, scheduled to start this month. The panel of interviewers included Sohail Kazmi, general secretary, Press Club of Jammu, Zaffar Iqbal, correspondent, NDTV Jammu, and Pankaj Sangral, chairman, B B educational Trust. A total of 20 students desirous of joining the first batch of the course (session 2010-11) appeared before the panel and presented their thoughts and ideas related to the profession of Journalism. The students were assessed on various parameters that included qualification, personality, intelligence quotient, mannerism and flair & aptitude for journalism. The students were mainly asked about as to why they want to join the profession. Both, Sohail Kazmi and Zaffar Iqbal expressed satisfaction over the identified talent by the institute to undergo one year vocational course in Journalism and Mass Communication. They asked the students to carefully learn all the aspects of the profession during their training period so as to serve the ailing society in a meaningful manner. Pankaj Sangral, chairman of the Trust, said, "The institute has finished admissions for the first batch and process is on for the second batch. He made it clear that only those students will be allowed to undergo the training which would receive clearance from the interview panel." The programme was conducted under the over all supervision of Manisha Koul, course coordinator. Later, the students of the institute interacted with Radio Jockey (RJ) Manas from Big 92.7 FM. He apprised students about various aspects of Radio programming. Address media fraternity's grievances: Tarigami EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, July 10: CPI (M) State Secretary, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has urged upon the government to address the grievances put forth by the media fraternity in Kashmir. In a statement issued today, Tarigami while reacting to the peaceful sit-in staged by the media fraternity in Srinagar asked the government not to put curbs on the professional duties of the fourth estate as has been alleged by the protesting journalists. Tarigami expressed solidarity with all the media persons who were assaulted during these days and condemned the attack on senior journalist Riyaz Masroor. Tarigami stressed upon the government to look into the complaints of harassment of the journalists, while performing their duties.
