| Research Group to work for Macchedi as a tourist spot | | | early times report
Kathua, July 10: Several members of a Research Group, namely Bunty, Vikas , Amrish, Sachin, Sanjeev Verma, Arun, and Mandeep Singh urged the state government to develop Macchedi as mini Kashmir in District Kathua. In 2008, they started their research activities for upliftment and development of popular tourist spot of the Kathua's nearest and easily accessible cool place Macchedi.
Thereafter Macchedi became the prime and priority-based project of the research group. The members told media persons that the committee was constantly visiting the area and intended to publicize it all over the country as a tourist spot. However, owing to some limitations it was not being actively pursued as yet.
The committee also met with the sarpanch Khushi Ram Sharma who promised to extend his support for the development of Macchedi as a tourist spot. The research committee said that Macchedi had as attractive a climate as Kashmir enjoys and this was God's gift to the people of the district.
