Amarnath-bound couple looted in train, daughter abducted | | | ET REPORT JAMMU, July 10: An Amarnath-bound couple, who boarded the Varanasi Express from Lucknow Friday, was found lying unconscious in a compartment of the train at the railway station here this morning. They were identified as MP Tripathi and his wife Mithlesh Tripathi. Police sources said Tripathi, his wife and their daughter Vandita (24) boarded the Jammu-bound Varanasi Express from Lucknow yesterday. The train reached here this morning. While carrying out routine checking in it at the railway station, police found the couple lying unconscious in a bogie at about 11.25 am. Vandita was not with them, the sources added. Cops evacuated them to the GMC Hospital where they regained consciousness after about six hours of treatment. Tripathi later told police that at Moradabad railway station, another family of three persons had entered their compartment and sat beside them. The family had offered them some eatables. Consuming them, they fell unconscious and did not know what happened to them after that, he said.While they were unconscious, the family took away all their belongings and a cash of Rs 10,000.Vandita, who was found missing from the compartment, was too said to have been abducted by the family in her unconsciousness. The railway police station SHO, Inspector Pradeep Kumar said Moradabad police had been informed of the incident.The investigation in the case was in progress, he added.The SHO said the victims were to leave for the holy cave of Baba Amarnath in the south Kashmir Himalayas tomorrow.
