BJP to participate in all parties meet, demand tough action against separatists | | | ASHWANI EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 10: Putting all speculations to rest the Bharatiya Janata Party has decided to attend the all parties meeting convened by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at Srinagar on Monday for restoration of peace and normalcy in strife torn Valley. BJP sources said that Party senior leaders including its state Chief Shamsher Singh Manhas, its Legislative Party leader, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta, Deputy leader, Jugal Kishore Sharma and former state president Ashok Khajuria will represent the party in all party meet at Srinagar on July 12. Shamsher Singh Manhas while conveying the party decision to senior office bearers of the party here today said that Party High Command has also given directives to state unit in this regard. Manhas has convened a meeting of office bearers and legislators of the Party in this regard here tomorrow to chart out the future course and stand of the BJP to be taken in the meeting. The BJP senior leader and MP from Kangra HP, Dr Rajiv Sushant who is presently in Jammu is likely to attend this meeting. However the sources close to party have indicated that BJP will not demand the dismissal of the Omar Abdullah Government at this juncture and imposition of governor's rule in the state. Such a demand at this juncture will strengthen the hands of the separatists and their supporters, said a senior BJP leader. The main objective before the all parties should be restoration of peace in the trouble torn state instead of demanding the dismissal of State Government, the party sources said. ``Ours being an opposition party will continue to play a constructive role as the main objective of BJP is restoration of peace in the state and frustrate the designs of the anti social and antinational elements'', the sources added. The Party at this juncture will not do anything that would precipitate situation in the state which has been hit by turmoil for over last 20 years now. Moreover BJP does not want to sour its relations with NC, the sources said, adding the Party considers NC it's fewer rivals than Congress. The BJP High Command the sources said have also given directives to state leadership not to create such a situation in the state that will add to the worries of the coalition Government as any such step at this juncture will help the detractors of the country in the state and it will be totally inimical to national interests. The sources said BJP has also shown its willingness at national level to support all those policies and programmes of the Government in J&K that will help in ending the growing alienation of the people of Valley in general and its youth in particular. The Party has made its view point already clear when its general secretary, Tarun Vijay at a press conference in Srinagar termed the growing unemployment among the Valley youth main cause of unrest in Kashmir. Mr. Vijay has strongly advocated for creation of more employment avenues for Kashmiri youth to end this alienation and this view has been endorsed by the senior leaders in his party as well as senior functionaries of the RSS. However the BJP leaders in all parties meet at Srinagar on Monday according to sources will demand free hand be given to security forces in crushing the terrorism and separatism. It will ensure full support to Government in crushing the separatist forces in the Valley whom it consider the main cause of the present turmoil, the sources added.
