| NH blocked against finance company 'bungling' | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 11: Hundreds of people today took to the streets and blocked Jammu-Rajouri National Highway alleging misappropriation of funds by a finance company in Sunderbani area of Rajouri district, police sources here said.
''The residents alleged that they have been duped of Rs 3 crore by a finance company called Bhawani financial company,'' police said.
Police said the protestors shouting slogans blocked the national highway and disrupted the traffic demanding police action to secure their amount from the 'fraudulent' finance company.
According to the protestors the finance company that shut down in 2007 had more than 500 registered account holders.
''The fraud company has robbed us of the hard money earned over the years and we want the money back,'' the account holders shouted.
Meanwhile, the police and district administration officials rushed to the spot and assured stern action against the financial company following which the demonstrators dispersed and the traffic restored.
