KPs divided over employment package | | | ASHWANI EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 11: With law and order situation worsening in Kashmir Valley the displaced Pandits are totally divided on Prime Minister's Employment package and return of the community to Valley. While some organizations having proximity with ruling alliance are in favour of return of the youth to strife torn Valley by joining their place of posting there, the three factions of Panun Kashmir who stand for a separate home land for the Pandits in Valley are totally opposed to this move. The PK leaders who strongly advocate for homeland demand said that no other option will be acceptable to them as majority community has since rejected the formula of co-existence in Valley by forcing the minorities to flee from the Valley. These organizations who are supported by All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC), Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC), All Kashmiri Pandit Solidarity Conference (AKPSC) also hold the view that return of Pandits to Valley at this juncture will prove suicidal and any such move of the Government will boomerang. Even Jammu and Kashmir Vichar Manch (JKVM) and Kashmir Samit Delhi (KSD) have termed the return move a premature step and demanded that the employment package should in no way be linked to return of to Kashmir Valley. Moreover the deteriorating law and order situation in Kashmir has created many apprehensions among the leaders of these KP organizations regarding the safety and security of the displaced youth after their return to Valley. The PK as well as ASKPC are demanding that the migrant youth be adjusted in camp schools and other migrant offices in Jammu instead of putting their lives to risk by posting them in trouble torn Kashmir Valley. However the leaders of NC Minority Cell including the MLC Vijay Bakaya, Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) and other KP bodies reject this contention and demand that the Government should immediately issue the appointment orders of the KP youth. These organizations while reiterating their resolve to work at any place in Kashmir Valley are demanding the security for the newly appointed KP youth and advertisement of the remaining posts under PM's package. This has led to a vertical divide in the KP community. The Government is also undecided over the issuance of orders for the displaced youth as it does not want to put the community to any more risk under the prevailing circumstances.Instead of taking any harsh decision the Government is adopting a wait and watch formula. A senior State Government officer when contacted said the displaced youth should not be so impatient and they should provide some more time to Government in reaching a decision. The situation has deteriorated in valley and till normalcy is not restore it will not be advisable for the displaced youth to press for the issuance of orders, he said adding the Government does not like to involve these youth into risk at this juncture though it is committed to implement the PM's employment package.
