D&FC seizes drug consignment without proper billing | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 11: In its endeavour to ensure quality and safe drugs to consumers, the enforcement staff of Drug and Food Control (D&FC) Organization conducted surprise inspection of various wholesale outlets in Jammu city. During the drive, a consignment of drugs belonging to Aristo Pharmaceuticals Limited amounting Rs 1,29,563.36 was seized from the premises of M/S Sanjeev Medicine Traders, Raghunath Bazaar and M/S Ganpati Traders, 1st floor, Ganesh Cloth House, opposite Super Bazar, Jammu as the firms could not produce purchase bills of these drugs. The department has started investigation in the matter and the defaulter shall be booked under law. All the dealers are impressed upon to procure medicines against proper invoices from licensed outlets and ensure sale to licensed dealers only. The manufacturers have been warned of legal action for making claims of prevention and cure for diseases and ailments covered under Schedule J. The department is contemplating strict action against retail outlets indulging in sale of intoxicating drugs in violation of Rule 65 of Drugs & Cosmetics Rules, 1945.
