Security forces pray for peaceful passage of Martyrs day in Valley | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 11 : Even though the state government on Sunday lifted the curfew restrictions in Kashmir valley and went ahead with prohibitory orders in Baramulla, Kupwara and certain other sensitive areas following improvement in the ground situation, the senior security officials are still keeping their fingers crossed and waiting for the peaceful passage of the Martyrs day on July 13. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah himself has set July 13 as the final day to review the decision to withdraw the army, which is in a state of stand by and will be deployed only to assist the state agencies enforcing the law and order. On Sunday, after situation showed remarkable improvement with no major incident of violence reported from the Srinagar barring few incidents of stone pelting in down town areas, the state authorities decided to lift the curfew restrictions to ease out the tense situation. People were seen on the streets but due to strike call given by the Syed Ali Shah Geelani the markets were not completely opened by the businessmen fearing losses. Vehicular movement was not completely normal all even as large number of people were seen flooding the markets to buy essential commodities. According to informed official sources, the state administration has taken a calculated risk to lift the curfew restrictions after heavy crackdown the trouble makers. If the situation remained completely normal on Monday and Tuesday, the state government would review its decision to send back the Army--which is in a state of stand by. Meanwhile, local police and CRPF have made elaborate arrangements to prevent assembly of local residents in several parts of the city by erecting mobile barriers and mesh of wire.
