Tributes paid to Madr-e-Meharban

SRINAGAR, July 11: Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah President of National Conference and the Union Central Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Dr. Farooq Abdullah today offered Fateh at the graveyard of Madr-e-Merbhan, Begum Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah at the banks of famous Dal Lake, Nigeen Bagh, Hazratbal, Srinagar.
On this occasion, the Ministers and MLAs, including Minister for Finance, Mr. Ab. Rahim Rather, Minister for Rural Development, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sager, Minister for Labour and Employment, Mr. Abdul Gani Malik, Minister for Social Welfare, Ms. Sakina Itoo, Minister of State for Tourism, Mr.Nasir Aslam Wani, MP, Mr. G.N. Rattan Puri, MLA Hazratbal Dr. Shiekh Mustafa Kamal, Advisor to Chief Minister, Mr. Mubarak Gul, MLA Zadibal, Peer Aafaq Ahmad, MLA, Batmaloo, Irfan Shah, Provincial President of National Conference, Ali Mohd Dar, and the Chairperson of State Commission for Women, Ms Shamema Firdous and a large number of people attended Fateh Khwani on the occasion.
Earlier, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Dr. Farooq Abdullah along with number of Ministers, MLAs and other NC leaders and workers paid tributes to the Late Begum Abdullah.
Paying rich tributes to Late Begum Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, the speakers highlighted her role during the freedom struggle and later her work done for welfare and socio-economic development of the women in the State. The speakers further said that Madr-e-Meharban would be remembered for her role played by her for the betterment, prosperity and communal harmony of the people of the State.
Meanwhile various organization including leaders of National conference (NC) and workers paid rich tributes to late Madre-i-Maharban Begum Akbar Jahan on her 10th death anniversary here today. The Provincial President of NC, Rattan Lal Gupta while paying tributes to her said, she served the people of state in various capacities and played a historical role during freedom struggle of the country along with Mahatma Gandhi Jawaharlal Nehru etc. He said PDP is responsible in creating problems in the state, as they do not like the progress achieved by the Omar Abdullah. Senior leader of NC, Mohd Aslam Gani while paying tributes to late Begum said, she was a brave lady and was aware of the problems and difficulties faced by the people, especially by women folk and tried her best to get people rid of the problems. The women call president of NC Laxmi Dutta paying tributes said. Real tributes to mother to work united by for the welfare common masses and also strength the NC at grass root level. She on the occasion urged upon the women folk present on the occasion to come forward and play active role in building of Naya Kashmir. Among others who also paid tributes were Talib Hussain, Jugal Mahajan, Vijay Lochan, Shabir Ahmed, Kashmir Singh, Mabdhir Gupta, Noor Hussain and others. The J&K secular public trust and scheduled caste and backward classes call in a separate function paid rich tributes to Madere Meharban and also garlanded the portrait of Begum on the occasion. Speakers on the occasion highlighted the role and contribution of the mother for upliftment of the poor masses. Rampaul sever leader of NC in this address laid stress and called upon the party workers that under the visionary leadership of Dr.Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah. We should work with zeal and dedication to further strengthen the legacy of the late. Sher-e-Kashmir and madr-e-meharban for maintaining unity and integrity of the National conference for overall peace, progress and prosperity of the state.
He also appealed to the youth of the state to leave the path of violence which has been created by vested interest and anti-social elements and asked them to come forward to strengthen the hands of the Omar Abdullah for strengthen the cause of peace, resolve the problem of unemployment and overall development of the state of J&K. other who participated in the function were Rajinder Chanayal, Om Dalmotra, Prem Chand Bhagat, Shyam lal, Kuldeep Sangral, Dr.Y.P Singh, Balkrishan Dogra, Subash Chander Azad, Romesh Kumar, Kewel Krishan and others.
