Bike lifters gang busted, 7 stolen motorcycles recovered | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 12: Police today busted a notorious gang of vehicle lifters and recovered seven stolen motorcycles from their possession. Addressing media persons here today, Superintendent of Police City Randeep Singh informed that the gang was busted on the disclosure of one of its members identified as Gourav Sachdeva. Gourav, who had stolen a mobile from Pacca Danga area, was arrested by police after it laid a trap. SP City said that during his sustained interrogation, Gourav broke down and informed police that he was one of the members of the vehicle lifters gang comprising six other youths. He told police that they were active in Jammu city for the last seven months and used to lift motor bikes from crowded places of city and adjoining areas. It was disclosed that most of the bikes were sold in rural areas of Kathua and Udhampur. On his disclosure, a police team led by SHO Pacca Danga Vishal Sharma under the supervision of SDPO City S S Sambyal and SP City Randeep Singh was dispatched in Majalta and Billawar area to arrest the accused. Police also seized seven stolen vehicles from their possession. The recovered vehicles bearing registration numbers Motorcycle TVS Star City No JK02AB-6735, Motorcycle Hero Honda Passion JK02P 962, Motorcycle Hero Honda Splendor JK02P 0897, Motorcycle Hero Honda Passion JK02AB 9427, Motorcycle Hero Honda Passion JK14 (False No), Scooter LML Vespa JK02C 4789 and Motorcycle Bajaj Discover JK02D 4339. The recovered vehicles will be handed over to their owners shortly after completing legal formalities, said SP City.
