| Court frames charges against NPP MLA, others in criminal case | | |

JAMMU,, July 12: 1st Additional Sessions Judge, Jammu, Mr. Sanjay Gupta today framed charges against Balwant Singh Mankotia, MLA, JKNPP and Kundan Lal Sharma u/s 452/435/427/34 RPC whereas charges against Anita Thakur, general secretary u/s 452/435/427/382/201/34 RPC and charges against accused Sanjeev Singh an Army Colonel u/s 452/435/427/363/34 RPC.
As per the allegations against the accused persons they all with common intention on May 12, 2005 entered into the residential house of complainant namely Lajwanti Manhas and in the education institute of his son at Krishan Nagar Maralian Miran-Sahib. All the accused manhandled complainant and her family and also relatives. All the accused started breaking windowpanes and vehicles standing in the garage. All the furniture and record of the school was also damaged.
Thereafter, all the accused took all the goods and material lying in the house and placed outside the gate of the house and burnt all their belongings.
Accused Anita Thakur allegedly snatched the golden mangal sutar of complainant whereas accused Sanjeev Singh snatched the grand-child of the complainant and took the child along with him. During investigation, police found that Sanjeev Singh kept the child in Army Zone and he is an Army Colonel. Anita Thakur destroyed the Mangalsutar in order to hide the evidence.
Police after investigation found offences u/ss 452/435/427/382/363/201/34 RPC proved against persons and after completion of the investigation presented challan in the Court of law. Meanwhile, Court today framed charges against the accused persons.
Accused Sanjeev Singh Army Lt. Col has moved an application for exemption on the ground that he is posted at far-flung area so he be exempted. Court exempted the accused for next five dates. --JNF
