All Party Meeting futile, says JD (U) President | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, July, 12 : Addressing the media here today, Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Janata Dal (JDU), President, Inder Mohinder Tar Singh said that All Party Meeting scheduled for today was going to be a futile exercise as it was too late and already lot of time had been wasted. Imposition of Governor's rule in the state of Jammu & Kashmir should not be delayed. He said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had admitted that the failure of his cabinet colleagues meant his own failure. Giving vent to the reaction of his party, Tar Singh felt that present coalition government was bent upon completing its tenure by hook or by crook as was done by the previous coalition regime. He suggested that Congress -NC combination should resolve the issues as they are responsible for the creation of the problems in 1947, and 1987 when militancy surfaced during the regime of the same combination. He said that corruption and unemployment were the root cause of many problems as well as "gun culture" in Jammu & Kashmir. "People do not have any social security; there is no check on sky-rocketing price rise of essential commodities. In this regard UPA government as well as the state government has miserably failed on all the fronts. We are holding Common wealth games while people are starving and essential commodities are becoming costlier day by day". He added, "During my recent tour of Kishtwar and Doda districts, it was brought to our notice that in Chhatru people are paying Rs. 1000/- for a bag of cement and Rs.30/- for 1 Kg of rice which in Kishtwar town costs Rs.12/- per kg. This is being done in connivance with local influential leaders and government machinery. We condemn this and strongly believe that All Party Meetings should be convened to fight the basic issues of masses so that stone pelting and agitations could be avoided once for all" Tar Singh said. |
