Army to remain in J&K till state needs it: Raju | | | AGENCIES HYDERABAD, July 12: Union Minister of State for Defence, MM Pallam Raju today said that the Army deployed in Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of recent violence will continue to remain as there long as the state government feels its presence is necessary. "What is happening in Srinagar and other places is very unusual. Army comes in only when it is beyond the handling of the state government. As long as the state government thinks it is necessary, the Army will be there," Raju said on the sidelines of a function here. According to him, the Union government would like to withdraw the troops as soon as normalcy is restored in the troubled state. "I don't think that (withdrawal of Army) would take long," he said in reply to a query if it would take long for troop withdrawal. To a query on the all-party meeting called by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, he said despite the absence of People's Democratic Party, the government will find a solution. "An all party meeting will help in bringing normalcy and understanding of what the real issue is. In J and K there has been good cooperation from all parties and it is unfortunate that Mehbooba Mufti is not attending. Nevertheless, we will find a solution," said Raju, who was in the city to inaugurate the Monsoon Regatta, Hyderabad 2010.
