Protest over 'missing' girls

JAMMU, July 13: People today staged protest against police after two girls went 'missing' in Paddar area of hilly Kishtwar district.
''The residents of Paddar area demonstrated against the Station House Officer, Paddar this morning alleging that two girls and a boy were called by the police for questioning yesterday but the girls went missing later,'' sources said. They added that the villagers assembled outside the police station and protested against the police.
''The senior police officers have been rushed to the spot to investigate the matter,'' Manish Sinha, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Doda-Ramban Range said.
He said the people had alleged that the girls did not return home since last night after they were called by the police for questioning.
''We are verifying and finding out the reason behind the incident,'' the DIG said.
