| Woman consumes poison, dies | | |

JAMMU, July 13: A 55-year-old housewife allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison under mysterious circumstances at her residence here today. She was identified as Soma Devi, wife of Ram Dayal, of Kandoli, Nagrota. Police sources said over some trivial issue, she swallowed poison at her residence in the morning. Following deterioration in her condition, she was admitted by her family members to the GMC Hospital at about 9.30 am.
Sources said she could not be saved by the doctors and died at about 11 am.
After post-mortem, the body was handed over to her family members for last rites.
The Nagrota police had registered a case in this connection and launched inquest proceedings under section 174 of CrPC.
