NC urban Jammu observes 'Martyrs Day' | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 13: National Conference (NC) OF Jammu Urban observed 'Martyrs Day' in a function organized at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan here today which was attended by a large number of NC workers and paid rich tributes to the Martyrs of 1931. Addressing the gathering Advisor to the President NC Mohd Aslam Goni said that Martyrs of 1931 sacrificed their lives for the cause of the people of state. By launching a peaceful movement the Martyrs in fact gave vent to their feelings and agonies of the people, which ultimately led to people's struggle which gave them their due place of dignity and honour and added the events of 1931were a turning point in the history of J&K martyrs of 1931 sacrificed their lives for democracy and freedom of speech, which was not allowed by autocratic rules of that time, he said and added best way to pay tributes to the Martyrs is to strengthen democracy and secularism in the state. He strongly criticized certain vested interest who always tried to communalise the Martyrs day whereas the struggle was never against a person but the establishment and for democracy in the state irrespective of region, religion or caste. The gathering was also addressed by MLA Bimla Luthra, lakshmi Dutta, Rajesh Bakshi, Ch. Talib Hussain, Shabir Ahmed Salaria, Jugal Mahajan, S.S. Bunty, sheikh Bashir, B. Bhat, Satya Jamwal, Dilshad Malik, Daljeet Sharma, and others. A similar function was organized at Bhaderwah by the party workers and rich tributes were paid to the martyrs by the NC Workers. Ashraf Goni Block President, Bashir Ahmed Nijar and Khan Mohd Khan also spoke on the occasion.
