NSUI organizes seminar on RTI | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 13: With a view to disseminate information about Right to Information and to train its cadre for RTI, National Students Union of India (NSUI) organised a seminar at Sacred Heart College of Education. The topic of the seminar was role of youth as ambassadors of RTI movement. A number of RTI programme office bearers and other NSUI activists, who attended the seminar, also distributed copies of Jammu and Kashmir Right to Information Act and other relevant information about it. National Secretary NSUI Mohit Sharma was chief guest while state president Abdul Rashid Choudhary presided over. Hari Singh Chib was the special guest on the occasion. Programme was organised by senior NSUI leader Uday Chib while state general secretary NSUI Arjun Singh Pathania coordinated. Speaking on the occasion, Mohit Sharma termed RTI as a historic initiative by Congress and a milestone for accountability, transparency and corruption free government. He stressed on the need to take this act to masses for its better applications. State President Rashid Choudhary described it as a step for good governance and better accountability and said that there is a need to pressurise government to make this process cheaper. He said that Right to information has been a blessing for all the young social reformers. Choudhary informed that NSUI would organize similar seminars in every district of the state. NSUI leader Uday Chib also addressed the delegates and listed the achievements of RTI. Delegates in the seminar asked a number of queries from guests which was answered by dignitaries present there.
