Pak-based agencies fomenting trouble in Kashmir: Arun Jaitley | | | ET DESK JAMMU, July 13: Pakis-tan-based agencies are fomenting trouble in Kashmir under a well-crafted strategy supported by local separatists, senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley said today. These agencies are instigating people leading to creation of a turbulent atmosphere in the valley, he told reporters in Ferozepur. "All this is being done under a well-planned strategy supported by local separatists," Jaitley said. Slamming the ruling NC-Congress government in Jammu and Kashmir, he alleged it had failed to manage law and order "which is going from bad to worse". "The government should have taken all possible steps to restore and win confidence of the people," he said. On yesterday's all-party meeting in Srinagar, Jaitley said his party is ready to support all those initiatives aimed at restoring normalcy in the state. The meeting was convened by beleaguered chief minister Omar Abdullah to de-escalate tension in the valley. The meet had called for an independent inquiry into the death of civilians but the BJP was not a party to this demand. Jaitley said conducting probes into actions of security forces is not a good move, adding instead, the parties should have focused on measures against separatists and local leaders stoking tension in Kashmir. On main opposition PDP staying away from the meeting, he said it should have participated in the deliberations as it was an old Congress ally. Besides, the issue related to national integrity and peace in the state which, Jaitley said, is above partisan politics. He said the UPA government should take up with Pakistan the issue of misuse of its soil for terror activities in India in right earnest during the upcoming talks.
