10,000 pilgrims leave base camps for Amarnath cave | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, July 13:: Undeterred by bad weather, snowy track and other odds, 10,000 more yatris today left Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam base camps for Amarnath cave shrine. So far over 1.50 lakh pilgrims, including men, women, children and sadhus have had darshan of the natural ice 'shivlingam' since the commencement of the two-month-long pilgrimage on July 1. Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) has recently deployed trained mountaineers of Jawahar Mountaineering Institute (JIM), Pahalgam to help pilgrims cross safely the slippery and snowy portion of the track after some accidents were reported. Official sources said the weather sometimes turn very bad near the cave and its periphery. However, this has not affected the spirit of the devotees coming from all parts of the country. About 6000 pilgrims left Baltal base camp for amarnath cave shrine this morning, said sources Similarly, about 3000 others left from Nunwan Pahalgam base camp for Chandanwari on foot while another 1000 are travelling by choppers to the holy cave from Baltal.
