Early Times Report
KATHUA, July 16: Having brought laurels by getting 21st world position in the qualifying tournament for the pre-world shooting championship from Singapore, the young star of Singapore International Shooting Championship, Sandeep Singh Bandral, son of S.S Bandral, arrived in his home town Kathua early in this morning.
Citizens of the town felt proud to give him a warm welcome. However, they regretted that neither the government of Jammu and Kashmir not the UPA government thought it in national interests to provide some financial assistance to Bandral by way of encouraging the budding sportsman.
They said that though huge amount is being earmarked for spots in the country and the state, yet a promising youth like Bandral who had shown his skill on international level has been deprived of event the smallest incentive.
Sandeep Singh played several junior men's 10 meter air pistol range events on national level and brought top positions with many numbers of gold and silver medals.
The young shooting star had become source of pride not only for the Kathua district but also for the State and for our nation as he had picked 21st position by competing with shooter champions from 24 countries in the pre-world shooting qualifying championship. organized as Singapore Open International Championship by the SAFRA shooting club.
He had qualified for the forthcoming world shooting championship. Sandeep Singh Bandral said that all the expenses for playing the shooting championship were borne by his parents without any support from the government agency.
