JU health centre lacks facilities, alleges NSF | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 16: National Secular Forum (NSF) has taken a strong note of the poor medical facilities that are being provided on Jammu University (JU) campus. Addressing media persons here today, NSF president Vikas Sharma alleged that the health centre inside the Campus is in worst condition. NSF leader claimed that the doctors appointed there are not available round the clock which exposes their commitment in serving the student community. He said apart from this, the medicines are also not available for emergency cases and this is a mere shame on the authorities who collect thousands of rupees from the students on the basis of first aid charges. He further said that though University's health centre has ultrasound machine but nobody is technically skilled to operate it. Vikas alleged that health centre has only one ambulance, which is insufficient to cater the needs of the students adding that it is being used by the provost of the hostels. NSF president asked, "Why the provost is using the ambulance and for which purpose?" He said that a post of doctor is vacant in the campus but nothing has been done so far to fill the same. Vikas said there is an urgent need to upgrade the facilities in the health Centre and further to adopt a proper management. He demanded that there should be regular check-up of all the students and University employees besides health center should be provided all facilities within ten days. He said that this will not be tolerated at all and agitation against the authorities will be launched in the coming days.
