| Udhampur girls enter semis of U-14, U-17 kho-kho | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 16: Udhampur girls entered the semi-finals of both under-14 and under-17 categories in the two-day inter-district kho-kho tournament which went underway at Youth Hostel, near here today under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS). In the quarterfinals, played today, Udhampur trounced district Samba 5-4 in extra time to reach the last four stages of under-17 girls' event. Similarly, in under-14 category, district Udhampur defeated Kishtwar by an innings. Earlier, in first round matches of under-17 group, Udhampur beat Doda by an innings and three points. In under-14 event, Udhampur won by a margin of five points against Kathua. Today's matches were officiated by Rakesh Kakkar, Ravi Kumar, Narayan Singh, Balwan Singh, Suraj Dev Singh, Sham Singh, Rajesh Sambyal, Gagan Kumar, Harvinder Kour, Gurvinder Kour and Dolly Gill. The tournament was declared open by Deputy Director DYSS, S S Bali while the inaugural function was presided over by Assistant Director, Ashok Kumar. Among other present were Zonal Physical Education Officers (ZEPOs). The Detailed Results: Under-17 year: Kathua beat Kishtwar 6-3; Udhampur bt Doda by an innings and three points; Jammu bt Poonch by an inningsand four points; Rajour bt Reasi by an innings and four points; Kathua got walkover Ramban; Udhampur bt Samba 5-4 in extra time. Under-14 year: Udhampur bt Kathua by five points; Samba bt Doda by an innings and 15 points; Jammu got walkover Ramban; Reasi got walkover Poonch; Udhampur bt Kishtwar by an innings; Samba bt Rajouri by six points.
