PDD in deep slumber, various areas without power | | | EARLY TIES REPORT JAMMU, July 16: Power Development Department (PDD) of the State Government has completely failed to deliver goods on the ground even in the urban areas of the state. Unscheduled and long power cuts in these days of the humid weather making life virtually hell for the people of Jeewan Nagar, Ajeet Nagar, and Babliana area of Jammu falling under the 6.3 MW Babliana Power Station. This power station supplies power to Gangyal, Digiana, Chak Bala, Jeewan Nagar, Ajeet Nagar, Babliana, Upper Gadigarh, and Model town area. From past few days the power scenario in Jeewan Nagar and Ajeet Nagar is in dilapidated condition, only last night power supply was snapped and no one from the PDD was there to hear the plea of the locals even after the repeated phone calls. The people of the area had spent the whole night without electricity. Locals also complained that wiring in this area is decade old and not changed even after many representations to the concerned authorities. This is particular true in case of Jeevan Nagar, Gadigarh and Ajeet Nagar. The PDD have not changed the wires since 10 years. This is a picture, even after installation of the electronic meters in these areas. Locals said that at the time of installing the electric meters in these localities, the department had assured that consumers would get regular power supply but the situation has turned worst. The people also added that we are facing frequent power cut through out the days but it is unbearable in these days. As the city continue to reel under severe power crises marked with frequent long and unscheduled curtailment. The cuts range between 10 to 12 hours and sometime even more in present hot and humid climate making life miserable for the Jammuites. Making scathing attack on the PDD officials, locals maintained that the concerned PDD officials not bothered about the plight of people. Locals also maintained that all the officials from JE to the Chief Engineer behave rudely with the people, and after some time they switch off their phones leaving the people high and dry. |
