7/16/2010 11:04:52 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 16: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Thakur Randhir Singh has urged the stakeholders to rise above party affiliations and devote their energy for strengthening communal harmony, unity and lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing media persons here today after attending all party meeting in Srinagar, Thakur Randhir Singh said it is the time to rally behind Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the UPA Government to deal with the challenging situation in a befitting manner.
Singh disclosed that he suggested at the All Party Meeting in Srinagar to adopt Maharshtra model and set up a core group of senior leaders of all political parties in J&K to jointly take up various issues including economic, development and employment generation with Prime Minister, different ministries and also with head of different political parties.
He added this should be made a regular feature by keeping political considerations aside as J&K is worst sufferer of economic insurgency besides the Pakistan sponsored terrorism.
NCP President informed that in the all party meeting he asserted that enemies of peace want to keep the pot boiling in J&K and this calls for an effective, well coordinated and united response from the Government and all the political parties to defeat the nefarious designs of the enemies of the state and the country.
Strongly advocating the urgent need for immediately setting of the delimitation commission in J&K, he stressed that this is imperative for ensuring adequate representation and justice to all the regions of the state as per there population area, topography, contiguity of various assembly and parliamentary constituencies.
NCP state President said that the common man right from Lakhanpur to Leh, students, taxi operators, hoteliers, farmers, labourers and traders are the worst sufferer due to recent developments in the valley. He laid emphasis for restoration of complete normalcy in the state particularly in valley.
