| Jawahar Nagar residents threaten dharna: highly erratic e power supply | | | Staff correspondent

Jammu, July 16: A delegation of the residents of Jawahar Nagar, Talab Tiloo area vented their anger and deep disappointment against Electric Department for extremely erratic power supply to this locality for last two months. Talking to this correspondent, they said that for last two months electric power supply has been playing seek and hide with them.
Power does not sustain for more than half an hour and then disappears for hours at end. Most of the nights go without power and people are faced with severe problems particularly when it is the peak of hot summer.
Even the inverters do not get charged because if at all there is power for say one hour, the voltage is so low that even a fan does not work properly. The student community was hardest hit by the failure of local power supply unit.
The delegation said that whenever they bring a complaint to the local officials, they are told to contact the highest authorities as they are helpless.
The delegation said that the condition of power supply has become totally intolerable and if authorities did not redress their grievances forthwith, the entire population would be forced to come out and sit on dharna on the main road and block the traffic as was done some years back following which electric power supply had improved considerably.
