Ultra held, LeT's administrative base busted | | | JAMMU: Forty eight hours after killing Lashkar-e-Taiba's (LeT's) district commander Ishaq Bhat in Kishtwar forests, police and army jawans today captured his deputy, besides busting the outfit's administrative base in the area. Troops were on the look out for Ishaq's associates who had escaped from the encounter site after his killing two days back in Kishtwar forests. Official sources said while combing Kunau Ghat forests of Patnazi in Thathri, Kishtwar, police and army jawans in a well-coordinated and executed operation caught hold of Ishaq's deputy at about 9 am while he was trying to flee. He was immediately overpowered and unarmed, the sources added. He was identified as Nazir Ahmed (22), son of Noor Mohammed, of Suranga, Patnazi. He was active since March 2009. One AK rifle, its two magazines and 50 rounds were recovered from him. During further searches in the nearby Uttreni forests, the troops came across an administrative base of LeT.Its search led them to the recovery of one .303 rifle along with a magazine and 14 rounds, two Sintex water tanks of 500 lt each, five blankets, two gas cylinders, 300 kilograms of assorted ration, utensils and terrorist propaganda material.Sources said the base was later destroyed by the troops.This major success has marginalized LeT in Kishtwar, the sources added, saying different terrorist outfits were battling low morale amongst their rank and file.
