EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 16: The reports regarding sneaking of militants inside Indian territory in Mendhar sector and continued firing across the LOC in Poonch has generated fear psychosis among the people living in twin border districts of Rajouri-poonch. The people in these border areas apprehend that this way Pakistan was hell bent in reviving militancy in the border districts. The group of militants which are believed to be active in Beri Rakh forests of Mendhar are from Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit. This outlawed militant outfit has been responsible for causing lot of devastation in J&K state and other parts of the country. As the terrorism has hit the state a lot during last twenty years and the twin border districts being the main targets of the terrorists strike, people apprehend the situation may again take a critical turn in case the terrorists are not crushed with iron hands. To show total solidarity with Army and security forces fighting the terrorism, a civil-army liaison meeting was held at Mendhar today. This meeting which was attended by prominent citizens of area and Army and civil officers stressed on increasing civil-army co-operation to thwart the designs of enemy which is trying to disturb the peace in border area of Jammu region.
The sources said the Army and civil administration is fully equipped to face such challenges and all efforts of Pakistan in regrouping Jehadi outfits in border districts in border districts will be thwarted. The sources said that the prominent citizens at Mendhar army-civilian liaison meeting assured the Brigadier 10 infantry Division Dushant Singh that civilians will not hesitate in giving any sacrifice for the national unity and integrity as they have now completely seen through the game plan of the enemy state.
In the meeting stress was however laid on taking up more projects for the benefit of civilians like supply of drinking water and electricity under operation Sadhbhavana. Meanwhile people of the twin districts have also stressed deployment of security forces in sensitive areas of border districts so that militants will not get any chance to exploit the unemployed youth through allurements. The people sources said have also criticized the Government decision on withdrawal of troops especially from militancy infested areas of the two districts.
The Government should reconsider its decision on withdrawal of troops from sensitive areas said Moulvi Farid. Supporting him Abdul Gani of Mendhar said any leniency shown on the part of the government in crushing the infiltrators will prove inimical to national interests and further hamper progress and development of the border state. Krishan Lal Thakur who was also critical of Governments move to withdraw army said Pakistan has not given up its game plan to disturb peace in J&K. He said on one hand the neighboring country is involved in present turmoil in Kashmir which has also been fully established now and on the other hand it is promising Indian Government that it's soil will not be used for training of Jehadis against India,
The Government of India should see through this game plan of Pakistan and stop parleys hence forth, he added.
