Handle secessionism in Kashmir firmly: Prof Chaman | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 17: Stressing for firm handling of secessionism in Kashmir and the evil designs from across the border, the former Union Minister and leader of the BJP Legislature Party, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has warned both the state as also the central government that any more dilly dallying could lead to bigger problems, both at home as also along the Line of Control/borders. Addressing party meetings at Talab Tillo and Subash Nagar here, Prof Gupta observed that the manner in which the trouble was brewing in certain parts of Kashmir valley for months, was quite significant but the appeasement and confused approach adopted by the coalition as also the UPA government at the Centre, has led the valley to a turmoil and dominance of fundamentalists is quite meaningful. This serious situation has encouraged the perpetrators of cross border terror to the extent they have emboldened to indulge in repeated violations of the cease-fire along the LoC/border in Jammu and then attempting to link the so-called Kashmir problem during any dialogue between India and Pakistan. BJP leader recalled that the gang up of the Congress-NC had always brought sufferings and miseries for the people of this state and also the difficulties for of the country also. In this regard, he referred to the happenings on 1953, 1977, 1982 and then in 1989 and said their follies are still leading to numerous problems including that of militancy which has consumed over fifty thousand lives and over five lakh people getting uprooted to get refugees and destitute within their own country. Over 18 months back when there was new alliance between these two jilted lovers, many fears were expressed and now these are coming true, he added. Accusing the Congress of being power hungry and clinging to chairs even at the cost of insults, Prof Gupta referred to the recent statement of the younger son of late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and a senior leader of the NC, Dr Mustafa Kamal, equating India and Pakistan for problems in Kashmir as also hurling invectives against the Congress and said that the silence of the Congress leadership clearly indicate that they want to cling to chairs as the Congress mess seem to be ready to face any humiliation. BJP leader also pointed out to the failure of the coalition on various fronts resulting in anarchy like situation to the extent of missing of two young girls from a police station in Paddar area but the concerned authorities taking the incident as lightly. The problems of poor supply of electricity as also that of rations etc., also prominently figured at these meetings. Prof Gupta impressed upon the people especially the party activists to strengthen the nationalist forces to meet the challenges facing the people and to the country as a whole.
