Board of Technical Education bends to NSUI's demands | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, July 17 : Under the leadership of State General Secretary NSUI, Firoz Khan, National Students Union of India staged a protest rally against the Technical Board. Addressing the agitated gathering, Firoz Khan criticized the authorities at the helm of affairs for failure to discharge their duties properly. He said that the Technical Board had made a mockery of the system. He said that question papers set by the Board were out of syllabus, and were not set according to the pattern and balanced weightage .The students of Civil Engineering 6th semester of different colleges found the papers of steel (13-07-2010) and Earthquake (15-07-2010) out of pattern, unbalanced and not within the syllabus. That was why the students boycotted the third paper. He said that the students of IECS, NP, NITS, and Govt. Polytechnic were protesting for last two days and the Board administration did not pay heed to their demands. This forced the students to boycott today's paper. The two-day protest event was lead by M. Imran (Rizvi), president NSUI unit of IECS and NP Polytechnic Colleges, and State Secretary, Ajaz Choudhary. M. Imran said that the papers set by the Board of Technical Education were out of syllabus and unbalanced as far as the weightage of marks is concerned. The tough pattern of the question paper forced us to take a harsh step and boycott other papers. The matter was brought to the notice of Board authorities for redressing the complaint and ordering re-examination of all papers after 10th of August 2010 Ajaz Choudhary said that for two days nobody heard them and they were pressurized by the authorities. He hoped the Board would change its attitude and give no provocation to the students to intensify agitation. After three days of protests a meeting Technical Board held a meeting with the NSUI office bearers and discussed the entire. It was decided to cancel all papers and new date would be announced later on. After meeting with the Board officials, Firoz Khan spoke to the students and assured them that justice would be done to them and fresh papers would be set. The students dispersed after receiving assurance from Khan
