Govt unable to control situation in valley: Manhas | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 17: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President Shamsher Singh Manhas has strongly castigated the state administration for its inability to bring the situation in valley under control. He lamented that law and order situation in the valley has only worsened instead of improving. It was most unfortunate that in the recently held All Party Meet at Srinagar, the BJP's well considered and mature suggestions to control the situation in the valley have not been acted upon. The state government continues to persist in actions, postures, utterances and attitudes which demoralize and dishearten the security forces, who are already reeling under very well planned, organized and concentrated intense stone throwing, which has resulted in large number of serious injuries to even security personnel. The government continues to treat separatists with velvet hand and which has resulted in emboldening them and who are now indulging in every kind of anti-national activity and defiance. Manhas said that need of the hour is to firmly handle the separatists and strengthen the intelligence setup at the local level so that king-pins of this organized stone throwing campaigns are identified and firmly neutralized. The government must also manage media more effectively so that the hardships suffered by the common man of the valley are adequately highlighted. The people are groaning under acute scarcity of essentials of daily use, are facing great difficulty in accessing the life saving health facilities and a totally without means of earning livelihood. Reiterating party's support to the government in tackling the situation with an iron hand, the BJP chief said that the party wants peace to be restored in the valley at the earliest and for that a firm policy is needed to be evolved by abandoning the appeasement of a particular faith or working in such a manner that encourages all such forces in the valley who have been working day and night to ensure that the situation there remains disturbed so that their shops run smoothly. |
