Bhim castigates Farooq's statement against Army Chief | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 17: Chairman, Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party Prof Bhim Singh, has reacted sharply on the statement of Union Minister for New and Renewable Resources Dr Farooq Abdullah, objecting to the concern shown by the Army Chief that, "Contributions of the Indian Army need to be duly projected in J&K". Panthers Party Supremo blamed Dr Farooq Abdullah and his son for browbeating central leadership on one pretext or the other and exploiting the innocent Kashmiris. "The Army Chief's concern in saying that the 'gains' made by the Indian Army in Kashmir since 1947 have not been projected among the people and the prevailing unfortunate situation needs to be tackled through political will", should have been viewed with positive mind looking at the hardships the jawans have been facing in J&K. He reminded Dr Abdullah when he resigned as Chief Minsiter in 1989 and ran away to London leaving the people, who had voted NC to power, at the mercy of the 'terrorists'. Bhim Singh said political process came to an end with the death of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and entire 'state' became a 'battleground' of the 'militants' supported, aided and abetted by National Conference and ISI. It was National Conference which demolished 'political' base in J&K and sent 'unemployed boys' to Pakistan for armed training, he alleged It was the army alone which resurrected destroyed schools, hospitals, guest houses, restored bridges and drinking water supplies and provided free medical care and goodwill schools to the suffering Kashmiris. The 'NC and Congress' which have been ruling for decades have disappeared from the scene in 1989 and returned only when power came in 1996. After return to power 'courtesy-mobile voters' in 1996 the NC did not care to say a word on the contribution of the Army, which had made unparallel sacrifices since 1947 for the defence of the people of J&K. "There is no doubt that the situation needs a political touch. Dr Farooq Abdullah and his CM son have been actively intriguing that political dialogue of the Central leadership with the angry Kashmiri leaders would not go ahead. Army Chief's concern needs to be viewed in right 'perspective and with national outlook. NC Chief has exposed himself to the people and it is regrettable that he would not care but for others have to say", Bhim Singh said. |
