CB produces challan against HC | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 17 : The crime branch (CB) of the state police today produced challan against a Head Constable (HC) in a fraud case the court of additional sessions judge anti-corruption, Jammu. The challan was produced against HC Shiv Ram of IRP 4th Bn, who was posted as cashier at PTTI, Vijaypur, when his alleged involvement in a fraud case was detected. The alleged fraud surfaced in March, 2001, when senior deputy accountant general (A&E), Jammu, had lodged a complaint in this regard, according to a CB handout. The handout said during the course of investigation, a fraud of Rs l2,97,000 was detected at PTTI, Vijaypur. The accused allegedly used to forge the bills after obtaining the signatures of DDO. He was arrested on March 27, 2001, and put to sustained interrogation during which he allegedly told CB that he had been withdrawing excessive cash from the treasury. He had used the embezzled money to buy land and Kisan Vikas Patras in the name of his wife Kamla Devi and children, the sources added. Sources said investigation of the case had been closed as proved. After obtaining sanction from the competent authority, the challan was produced in the court of law for judicial determination, the sources added. He was booked under sections 5(2) of prevention of corruption Act and 409, 420, 467, 468 and 471 of RPC. |
