"SMS-Alerts Service" for IGNOU students started

Jammu , July 17: "SMS Alerts" service for IGNOU students of Jammu Region was today inaugurated by the Pro- Vice Chancellor of IGNOU Prof. K R Srivathsan from New Delhi Headquarters was the Chief Guest on the occasion
With the launch of this service it would communicate a variety of information instantly to the students of IGNOU, especially to the students from extremely backward areas where other media of communication are not very effective
One-day meeting of Coordinators /Programme Incharges of all the Learner Study Centres under Jammu Region was also held in General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu.
The Coordinators and Programme Incharges from various Learner Study Centres spread across the length and breadth of the Region including Doda, Kishtwar, Bhaderwah, Bhalessa, Surankote, Sunderbani, Rajouri, Gool, Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, Ramban participated in the meeting..
Prof. Srivathsan had an interactive session with the Coordinators and Programme Incharges in which several functional issues related to the functioning of Learner Study Centres were discussed and resolved. Besides this, several issues pertaining to Student Support Services were discussed and necessary strategies were framed on-the-spot to improve the quality of support services being provided to the students of IGNOU from these Learner Centres.
K K Bhat, Regional Director, Regional Centre Jammu, briefed the gathering about the various innovative schemes that are being introduced into the system for the benefit of IGNOU learners and the prospective learners at large.. K K Bhat stressed on the need to improve the student support services in the region and urged the Coordinators and Programme Incharges to devise the finest mechanism to cater to the educational requirements of IGNOU learners in the best possible manner. The Regional Director assured the Coordinators/Programme Incharges of the additional facilities required to improve the student support services in the region. Pappu Singh Sapriban,Assistant Registrar, accompanied by the Accounting fraternity of the Regional Centre Jammu resolved the various financial as well as administrative issues related to the concerned Learner Centres in a concluding session on the occasion.
