Jammu, Udhampur girls share kho-kho titles | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 17: Girls from district Jammu and Udhampur clinched the under-14 and under-17 title respectively in the two-day annual inter-district Divisional level kho-kho tournament played under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at Youth Hostel, Nagrota, near here today. In the under-14 girls' final, Jammu defeated district Samba in a close contest 5-4 to lift the title. Earlier, in the semi-finals, Samba beat Reasi 4-3 while Jammu trounced district Udhampur 11-7. The under-17 girls' kho-kho trophy went to district Udhampur after the side outplayed hosts Jammu district 2-1 in the final. In the semi-finals, played in the morning session, Udhampur beat district Rajouri by an innings and one point and Jammu registered an innings and one point win over district Kathua. Except for district Ramban, all the districts of Jammu Province took part in this competition of division level held on knock-out basis. Deputy Director DYSS, S S Bali was chief guest in the finals, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes. Meanwhile, before the start of the finals, a two-minute silence was observed by the gathering to pay respect to Pradeep Kumar of district Kishwar, who lost his life by drowning at Nowshera in district Rajouri. Pradeep had gone to Rajouri to take part in the inter-district kabaddi competition
