| PDP demands issuance of Voter I-cards | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 17: A meeting of Peoples Democratic Party workers under the chairmanship of Ravi Kumar Bali, President District Jammu Urban was held here today wherein the participants discussed in detail the present political scenario of the state.
In the meeting most of the leaders raised the issue of Election Photo Identity Cards which had to be prepared by the State Election Authority.
They said that a few years back forms were filled by the general public along with a photograph for preparation of their Identity Cards by the election authority but till date people have not received the same.
The common man has spent three to four hundred rupees for preparation of identity cards.
Some of the speakers added that again new forms are being supplied by the election authority to be filled by head of the family for preparation of their Identity Cards. This is a mockery on the part of election authority and they urged the Government to pressurise the election authority to issue identity cards to the general public at the earliest on the forms they had already filled. Chaman Angral, Zonal President Jammu East while speaking on the occasion said that in many cases new Ration Cards have not been given to the individuals and it is said that the same have been kept by the Ration Dealers themselves to enables them to sell their Ration in black market.
