Another Jammu boy honing to excel in football Sports & Allied News | | | early times report JAMMU, July 18 : After Arun Malhotra and Kamaleet, another young footballer from Jammu is working hard for perfection to attain the ultimate goal of becoming an international player. Already played in two international events as a junior player, this young boy from Jammu, Johnny Kumar is presenting making efforts to find a suitable place in the Pune FC team. Already completed his one-year contract with Mahindra United under-19 team, right back Johnny trained at Chandigarh Football Academy for four years. A 12th standard student, Johnny hardly has any body in the family with sports background. "I have played two nationals before taking part in international competitions in 2005 at Iran and Uzbekistan. Two years later in 2007, during my stay in Chandigarh Academy, I also toured Germany," Johnny told Sports & Allied News in an exclusive interview. Though Johnny's endeavor to excel in football is well supported by the family, still he owes all credit to international footballer from Jammu, Arun Malhotra for being guiding force during all these years. "I have been guided and supported by Arun Malhotra in finding berth in Mahindra United and know in Pune FC. As a young player, I'm inspired by Arun Bhaiya's achievements, especially his silver medal win in Afro-Asian Games," said Johnny. Learned his basics from State Sports Council coach, Sat Pal Singh at Mini Stadium coaching centre here, this upcoming footballer was a member of Young Star Football Club of Jammu. Training away from home for the past over five years, this young boy has aimed at playing in the Indian team one day. "Following the foot steps of Arun Malhotra, my ultimate aim is to play for India one day," said confident Johnny. |
