Jd Institute students win awards at Fashion Week

JAMMU, July 18: Jd Jammu students recreated history by winning awards in two different categories at the Jd annual design awards 2010 a full fashion week of 5 days held at F- Lounge, The Ashoka, New Delhi.
The garments designed by the students were based on the theme "Transform".
To design the collection, the students acquire inspiration from art, culture and couture from Austria, Greece, Iceland and Ireland.
They observed and absorbed all things foreign from these countries & then fused them seamlessly with all things Indian.
The collection designed was reflecting the new trends the young designers will be offering to the Indian fashion industry in the near future Three groups from jd jammu centre were selected to represent the J&K state at the awards. Out of these three, two groups won awards for The Best Designs 2010 and The Most Commercially Viable Collection.
The inspirations of the winning collections were the folk dances of Ireland and the glaciers of Iceland.
The winners were awarded prizes at a glittering fashion show held at Delhi, and attended by the entire fashion fraternity of the fashion world including Rohit Bal , Poonam Bhagat, Sonia Jatetly, Puneet Nanda, Guarav Chabra Abhi Rahul, Heena Kapoor and other designers, buyers, exporters, and representative from all the leading brands Famous Internat-ional models like Miriam, Iiioras, Kate, Nabia, Oolema, And Anarica were the showstoppers besides other international models who showcased the garments designed by our Jammu students.
The students who brought home this honour for Jammu and Jd Institute are- Ridhima Jain, Palak Gupta, Bharti Chowdhari, Mridula Gupta, Neetu Kumari, Heena Gupta and Jatin Jain.
The mentoring of these students was done by faculty members- Pooja Pandoh, Abha Ojha and the centre director Maansi Gupta.
Speaking on the occasion, Maansi Gupta said that it is second year in a row that Jd Jammu has brought home this national level honour for the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
RC Dalal, Executive Director Jd Institute and Raman Gupta, Director, Jd Jammu, were also present on the occasion and congratulated the winners.
