7/18/2010 11:55:21 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 18: The Pakistan-based terrorists were planning to use Kashmiris as their guides to "successfully" infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir. As several misguided Kashmiri youth were in Pakistan and Pakistan
occupied Kashmir (PoK), the Pak-based terrorists had decided to use them as guides as they were well-versed with the routes from Line of Control (LoC) to safer places in J&K forests, official sources said, quoting intelligence agencies. In the absence of guides, 16 Pakistani militants, who had infiltrated from the International Border (IB) in Akhnoor here about two months back, were killed by troops in a gunbattle in Rajouri.
Militants were also killed while trying to infiltrate into Kashmir from Kupwara sector without guides.
Sources said as per the latest information gathered by intelligence agencies, terrorists in Pakistan were now trying to infiltrate into India with the help of Kashmiri guides.
Pakistani terrorists were looking for Kashmiri guides to recruit them in their outfits. Around 40-45 terrorists of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish e- Mohammad (JeM) were being trained in PoK by ISI and
Pakistan army, the sources added.
Pakistani terrorists were trying to recruit local guides of Kashmir and luring them with financial assistance so as to infiltrate into India to attack the targeted area.
Earlier on July 9 last, Intelligence agencies had sounded a terror alert in Kolkata, Mumbai and Delhi following reports that terrorists had sneaked into these cities to target vital installations.
According to intelligence agencies, about 31 operatives of terror groups Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HUJI) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JEI) had penetrated into India for carrying out terror strikes during
common wealth games event.Sources said security had been further strengthened on the border with Pakistan to stop the flow of militants into India.
