SKUAST's training program on 'water productivity' conclude | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 19: A training programme on 'Scaling up of Water Productivity in Agriculture for Livelihood through Teaching- cum- Demonstration' organized by Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Science and Technology concluded today. The programme was coordinated by engineer NK Gupta, Senior Scientist, Water Management Research Centre, SKUAST Jammu. Twenty officers of Agriculture Department took part in the programme. NK Gupta giving information said that the training programme imparted the technical knowledge to the participants comprising overall scenario of water availability, tapping of run off in the soil, water harvesting, estimation of water requirement of agricultural crops and plants, draught and their management and finally the judicious and effective use of water to increase the productivity soil which ultimately give benefit to the farming community in the shape of enhanced productivity. Speaking on the occasion, Dr JP Sharma, Associate Director Research lauded the water management department and said that its efforts would play a key role in conserving and utilizing every drop of water and to increase agriculture production.
