Nepotism, corruption in posting and transfers of new lecturers in DSE | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 19 : Every thing is not well in the School Education Department (DSE), Jammu as there are gross allegations of nepotism and corruption in recent postings and transfers of newly appointed lecturers in school Education department from different quarters. Some of the organizations alleged that the department has violated the all set norms of the transfers and postings in the school education. They also alleged that the department has taken into consideration the requirement of teachers in rural far-flung areas of the region. Many areas are left untouched and teachers are not being provided to them. While those having links with the politicians and other influential persons are provided prized posting in urban areas or in near by their homes. There were also examples that in some cases when lecturers are transferred within 15 days of their appointment without any justification. With this step of the authorities, the poor students of rural and far-flung areas are left high and dry allegedly with the nexus school education authorities and politicians. It is pertinent to mention here that the school education department published the notices few days before in which they appointed the candidates of different subjects from Jammu region. But within 15 days the department had again reshuffled these lecturers. Some student organizations of Jammu alleged that this system of transfers and postings of lectures had not done according to the set norms and they held responsible the Director School Education for her failure in ensuing transparency in the postings and transfers. When contacted Commissioner Secretary Education G A Peer for his comments on the burning issue, he stated that "no one have a right to intervene in posting and transfers of lecturers, it is sole prerogative of the Director School Education. He further said that was in some cases reshuffling of lecturers becomes mandatory. He challenged those organisations and individuals to prove the allegations of the corruption and nepotism. Director School Education, Zahida Khan could not be contacted for her comments even after repeated attempts. A high level official of the Directorate of School Education on the condition of anonymity stated that those who were leveling these allegations have their vested interests; they are only trying to blackmail the department. |
