"Stresses on harnessing horticulture potential" | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT RAJOURI, July19: Minister for Health , Horticulture and Floriculture Sham Lal Sharma has said that major thrust has been laid on harnessing the horticulture and floriculture potential of Rajouri district and for this purpose about Rs 2.50 crore have been earmarked. The Minister informed this while addressing at a public meeting at Darhal in Rajouri yesterday. He was accompanied by the Minister of State for Power and CAPD Mr Shabir Khan and senior officers of various departments. Sharma said that the topography of the region should be used to promote these allied sectors and people should avail the benefits of various schemes and venture into these economically viable sectors. He asked the concerned officers to promote Horticulture and Floriculture sectors in the district especially in Darhal region which is well suited for cultivation of various varieties of flowers .He stressed on organizing awareness camps and educating people about the various aspects of these sectors. Shabir Khan said that the Government is making focused attention on developing the rural and far-flung areas for which various steps are afoot to improve the power scenario in the district. He said that works under REGY are in progress for electrification of all the hamlets. Sham Lal said that government is contemplating to hold elections for Panchayats and local bodies and asked the people to choose representatives who would project their demands in an effective manner . On the occasion, the Ministers gave a patient hearing to the demands and problems putforth by the people and directed the concerned officers to take necessary steps for redressing the genuine grievances of the masses. Sham Lal assured to visit different blocks of the district to take stock of the problems of the people so that these can be redressed on time. |
