Kabaddi: Rajouri girls beat Jammu to enter U-14 semis | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 19: District Rajouri trounced hosts Jammu to enter into the semi-finals of the under-14 event in the two-day inter-district divisional level girls' kabaddi tournament organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at Youth Hostel Nagrota, near here today. In the quarterfinal, played today, Rajouri registered an impressive 24-11 win over Jammu girls. Earlier, Jammu district defeated Kathua 39-35 in a close contest. Samba also won their match against district Reasi 30-14 to reach semi-finals. Meanwhile, in under-17 girls' event, semi-finals line-up has been drawn with the entry of district Samba, Kathua, Jammu and Doda in the last four stages. In the first round of quarterfinals, played today, Samba beat Rajouri 33-15 while Kathua outplayed Poonch 22-14. In other matches, Jammu defeated Reasi 39-16 and Doda registered a 31-22 win over district Udhampur. Today's matches were officiated by Ram Murti Sharma, Tilak Raj Sharma, Ashok Kumar, Ram Paul, Bua Ditta, Jasdev Singh, Gulbir Singh, Rattan Lal Sharma, Mousami Verma and Moukshi Bali. Earlier, the girls' under-14 and under-19 tournament was declared open by Assistant Director DYSS, Ashok Kumar, who in his inaugural address advised the students of hard work and fair play. District Youth Services and Sports Officer Jammu, Jai Raj was guest of honour. Prominent among others present were Tirth Ram, Chanchal Kour, Sunita Goel, Sarita Padha, Jeet Singh, Mohan Singh, Urmil Sambyal and Warden Youth Hostel, Raj Kumar Sharma. |
