Violence will continue till Kashmir issue resolved: Hurriyat | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 20: While the police suspect several forces within the state for inciting groups of people to indulge in violence, separatists believe that settlement of the Kashmir issue was to key to the restoration of peace in the valley. Senior police officers said that number of forces within the state had become active in further destabilising peace in Kashmir. They referred to yesterdays' incident in Baramulla where one youth was killed in the firing opened by the CRPF said that groups of people, who were carrying the body of a boy drowned earlier, had fruitful discussion with the Deputy Commissioner elements keen to kick up disturbances motivated this very group of people to join them in staging loud protests outside the office of the DC. The police said that the CRPF sentry opened fire only when the group of youth planning to attack the Deputy Commissioner in his office. One senior police officer said that since June 11 these very anti-national elements have played a key role in motivating and provoking people in Kashmir to resort to violence while protesting against human rights violations by the security forces. This had resulted in one death after the other. On the other hand senior leader of the All Party Hurriyat Conference, Prof Abdul Gani Bhat, said that so long the Kashmir issue remained unresolved here will be no peace in Kashmir. In reply to a question Bhat blamed India for the failed talks between the foreign ministers of the two countries held in Islamabad the other day. When reminded that Delhi wanted the talks to focus on terrorism and peace Bhat said that without resolution of the Kashmir it is futile to talk about peace and end to terrorism. He said that once India and Pakistan start "meaningful and purposeful" dialogue for settling the Kashmir issue as per the aspirations of the people of the valley, Jammu and Ladakh regions peace is bound to return to Kashmir. In reply to another question Bhat admitted that the entire issue had been hijacked by some leaders with the result APHC had become helpless in persuading people to maintain peace. He said if Delhi started Kashmir centric talks with Islamabad these leaders, who have hijacked the movement, will become irrelevant. He said there were leaders and agencies in Kashmir who were trying to exploit the delay in the settlement of Kashmir issue for registering their presence and strength. He wanted Delhi to initiate political measures for resolving the problem because the current turmoil has no solution in the hands of administrators and police authorities.
