| Samba, Rajouri share girls' kabaddi titles | | | early times report
JAMMU, July 20: District Samba clinched the under-17 title while under-14 trophy went to district Rajouri in the two-day inter-district divisional level girls' kabaddi tournament which was organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at Youth Hostel Nagrota, near here today.
In the under-17 final, Samba girls defeated Doda by a margin of 31-25 with final score on board reading 31-25.Earlier, in the semi-finals, played in the afternoon after rains disrupted the proceedings in the morning session, Samba trounced hosts Jammu district 45-31 while Doda turned the tables against district Kathua beating latter 29-19.
However, in under-14 title clash, Samba girls could not do well and lost to district Rajouri 44-30. In this age group competition, only five districts turned-up.
In the finals and prize distribution function, Deputy Director DYSS, S S Bali was chief guest while Assistant Director, Ashok Kumar presided.
Both the officers congratulated the winners and encouraged those lost in the final and semi-finals to work hard next time.Boys' football, kho-kho events tomorrow
Meanwhile, according to the official spokesman of the DYSS, the two events of boys' football and kho-kho shall take place from July 22. While the under-14 and under-17 divisional level football tournament for Subroto Cup shall commence at GGM Science College grounds, here, the boys' kho-kho under-14 and under-17 shall take place at Youth Hostel Nagrota.
