Dilawar for immediate lifting of siege in Kashmir
7/20/2010 10:00:49 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
SRINAGAR, July 20: Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) General Secretary and former minister, Mohammad Dilawar Mir has expressed concern over the continued imposition of curfew and restrictions by the government on the civilian movement in valley forcing people to starvation due to non availability of essential commodities.
Dilawar while condemning the present dispensation for its callous and anti-people attitude towards Kashmiris has demanded immediate lifting of siege and restrictions on the civilian movement.
In a statement issued here today, Dilawar said the prevailing unrest among the youth is the result of the failure of the present government to address the genuine problems and urges of the common masses adding that powers at the helm of affairs are busy satiating personal gains leaving the common people hay and sundry.
He said instead of solving problems of the people and providing healing touch to the infused psyche of Kashmiris, the Omar led government was using brute forces to suppress the sentiments of Kashmiris particularly youth.
This irrational and anti people behavior of the government has become the main cause of peoples' alienation and unrest, Dilawar added.
He said the prevailing unrest among the youth is the reflection of the governments' failure to meet the expectations and aspiration of the people. Dilawar has sought humanitarian deal to diffuse the explosive situation prevailing in the valley adding that center's myopic endorsement to Omar led governments failure was most unfortunate, unexpected and uncalled for. Such an insensible assessment of the Kashmir situation is bound to aggravate the alienation and mistrust, Dilawar added.
