Not rlys, it was students initiative to prepare new alternate rly track | | | ARUN TRISAL early times report Kathua July 20: Nav Kathua Railway Station Nirman Samiti, founded by a group of 10 students of Kathua college headed by Bunty Bhola have collectively prepared a road map for the new alternate railway track and new railway station in Kathua. It was the hard efforts of this group who prepared the new alternate railway track which is diverted from Budhi (J&K)to Azizpur near Madhopur (Punjab). Even the ministry of railways accepted the project for pre-feasibility survey. As per the project report, the existing rail track has distance from Budhi to Azizpur near Madhopur(Punjab) is 18.82 kilometer having very tough steel grid which makes the train tough to gear up as well as track while the distance of new proposed line is 17.80 km from Budhi to Azizpur without any hurdles. Spokes person of the Nav Kathua Railway Nirman Samiti, Kathua, Mr. Sanjeev Verma and the activists Amrish Sharma, Advocate Kasturi Lal Khajuria, Mandeep Singh and Vikas Singh, Jasrotia said that as per project report the new proposed rail track would bring up developments in the entire district Kathua in general and Andhar area in particular. They said that exactly in the core of Kathua, Boblyian a proposed area just behind the Ramlila ground for the construction of new station and 4 kilometer far at Sherpur, a flag station is proposed and the track further diverted to Longate to join the old existing track by crossing the national highway. They said that due to this alternate track the entire Abdhar belt of Kathua, including Changran, Nagri, Kokhyal, Jakhbar, Sumoa, Bagtali, and several others would get the entire benefit of the railway station. They told that in this initiative the ex-MLA Hiranagar Girdhari Lal, Minister of State Sh Manohar Lal, ex Power Minister Babu Singh, present MLA Kathua Charanjeet Singh, existing MP Ch. Lal Singh and other prominent people of the Kathua.Manohar Singh, Beopar Mandal President Sh Surinder Bajaj along with other organisations voluntarily supported the proposed new Railway station.
