Mirwaiz refuses to meet
Track II team

Jammu, July 22: The chairman of the moderate Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Omar Farooq has refused to meet a three member Track II team from New Delhi that has been camping in Srinagar for the past three days. The team comprising former Vice Chancellor Jammu University, Dr Amitab Matoo, Retired Admiral KK Nair and Radha Kumar of Jamia Milia Islamia. Umer Farooq refused to interact with the team in protest against human rights violations in Jammu Kashmir. "Unless political prisoners are released, draconian laws are repealed and genocide of the people of Jammu Kashmir is stopped, I will not participate in any Track II activity", he said. Mirwaiz's close aid, Shahid-ul-Islam confirmed the Cleric's reluctance to meet the visiting team. "I conveyed Mirwaiz's decision to them", he said.
